SIOUX CITY -- Lenore Rexius, 80, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008, at Sunrise Retirement Home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2008 at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Roger Madden officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., a prayer service at 7 p.m. followed by an Order of the Eastern Star service, all at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.
Lenore was born Dec. 21, 1927, in North Platte, Neb., to William and Lucile (Sparks) Miller. She received her education in Scottsbluff, Neb., graduating from Scottsbluff High School with the class of 1945.
She married Dave Rexius on Aug. 3, 1946, in Scottsbluff, to which five children were born to this union. The family relocated to Sioux City in 1969, where she was involved in numerous volunteer organizations.
She was a mother advisor for the Rainbow Girls and a past member of the library board of trustees. She enjoyed her association with the Order of the Eastern Star Rose Croix Chapter and was a grand officer of the Order of the Eastern Star Grand Chapter. She was a proud member of First United Methodist Church and a former member of the P.E.O. Chapter MK of Sioux City. She enjoyed fishing and found her greatest joy in spending time with her family.
She is survived by her five children, Betty Dieter of Denver, Colo., Kathy and her husband, Herb Jara of Denver, Colo., Gerald Rexius and his wife, Terri of Sioux City, Marcy and her husband, Randy Boyd of Madison, Wis., and Barbara and her husband, Curt Cameron of Vermillion, S.D.; a sister, Darlene Palazzo of Staten Island, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dave; and a grandson, Chad Novotny.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Hospice of Siouxland or the Alzheimer's Association.
