Thomas Reinsch

Thomas J. TJ Reinsch, 37 of Brandon, SD and formerly of Sioux City, IA passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD following complications from an autoimmune disease, Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (TTP).

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 28, 2010 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City, IA with Rev. James Bruch officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday with the family present 6:00-8:00 p.m. and a Vigil service at 7:30 p.m. and Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com. The family requests that you wear a hockey jersey to both the wake and funeral, if possible.

TJ was born June 22, 1973 in Ames, Iowa the son of Steven H. and Becky L. Reinsch. He graduated from Bishop Heelan High School, Class of 1991, attended Iowa State University, and graduated from Bellevue University with a degree in Business. On June 20, 2003 he married Laura A. Nemesio in Elk Point, South Dakota.

His employment included Gateway in North Sioux City, SD, First Premier Bank in Sioux Falls, SD, and lastly at EMC, in Omaha, NE. TJ had just started a new position with EMC, and was very excited to be a part of their organization. TJ participated in the South Dakota State Amateur Hockey Association and served as the Assistant Coach for the National U-14 team, and was currently working with the U-16 team for the 2011 as their head coach. He served on the Sioux Falls Youth Hockey Association Board of Directors and was recognized as the Director of Coaches. He also coached the Sioux Falls Flyers in their inaugural year representing the Midwest High School Hockey League where they finished the year as the only team in Midwest History to be represented in the State Tournament in their inaugural year.

TJ also coached for a number of years in his hometown of Sioux City, and in San Diego, CA. All of the coaching that he did, was on a volunteer basis. He coached youth teams well before having a family of his own.

TJ played hockey from the time he was five years old and living in Ames. He continued after the family moved to Sioux City, playing for the Sioux City Metros, and various select elite teams throughout the Midwest. TJ went on to play briefly for the Sioux City Musketeers and the Iowa State Cyclones, winning two national championships. TJ was also an avid NASCAR fan, and traveled throughout the country to different tracks with his wife, Laura. Left to celebrate his life and cherish memories are his wife, Laura, a daughter Olivia, a son, Jack of Brandon, SD. His parents Steve and Becky Reinsch, Sioux City, Iowa. A sister, Stephanie Brown and her husband, Bill, Dakota Dunes, SD, his grandparents Olive Batman, Story City, Iowa, and Raymond and Roselyn Reinsch, Las Vegas, NV, his mother-in-law, Patti Nemesio, Sioux City, a sister-in-law, Lisa Wolf and husband Rick, Carrollton, TX, and a brother-in-law, Tony Nemesio and wife Theresa, Akron, IA. Nieces and nephews, Hank and Tommy Hahne, Dakota Dunes, and A.J., Tori, Alyssa Nemesio of Akron. TJ will be also greatly missed by all of his aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Frank A. Batman.

Pallbearers will be Chris Nelson, Brian Miller, Carlos Merriman, Kyle Peska, Tony Nemesio, Rick Wolf, Burke Lake and Dirk Richou. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Sioux Falls Flyers Midwest Hockey Team.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to TJ Reinsch Memorial Fund for his Children at First National Bank, Sioux City, Iowa.
