Richard Reinking

March 9, 1921 — October 30, 2006

Dr. Richard Reinking, 85, of Sioux City, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2006 in Sioux City. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2006 from 3-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. A prayer service will then begin at 7:00 p.m. at Nelson ~ Berger Northside Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 3, 2006 at First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Bill Love officiating. Burial of Ashes will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, November 4, 2006 at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Richard was born March 9, 1921 in Sioux City to Dr. Max and Helen (Blood) Reinking. Richard grew up and attended Sioux City schools, graduating from Central High School. He then attended undergraduate school at the University of Iowa, and then graduated from the University of Nebraska Dental School in 1944. After Dental school, Richard enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a 1st lieutenant until the W.W.II was over. He then returned to Sioux City and began practicing dentistry. On August 2, 1947, he married Blanche Linduski in Sioux City at the First Presbyterian Church. Dr. Reinking then retired in the mid 1980s.

Richard was a life long member of the First Presbyterian Church where he sang in the church choir and was a soloist for many years. He also sang with the Choraleers. Richard was also a member of the Abu Bekr Chanters and the High 12. He enjoyed going to their cabin in the Black Hills, fishing, riding horses, yard work and growing flowers in the garden and he was an avid reader. Richard loved being with his children and grandchildren more then anything.

Richard is survived by his wife of 59 years, Blanche Reinking of Sioux City, IA, 5 children, Dr. Jeff Reinking and his wife Denise of Sioux City, IA, Greg Reinking of Seattle, WA, Mark Reinking and his wife Roxie of Coeur DAlene, ID, Becky Clemens and her husband Jeff of Spokane, WA, and Lori Beck and her husband Mark of Olathe, KS. 12 grandchildren, Dr. Ben Reinking, Natalie Schaller and her husband Chad, Alicia Reinking, Dr. Amber Reinking, Tony Reinking, Ryan Reinking and his wife Heidi, Samantha Reinking, Carrie Araiza and her husband Dan, Kim Rassmassen and her husband Wes, Jessica Beck, Joshua Beck and Jacob Beck. 5 great grandchildren; Hannah and Gabriel Ariaza, Trey, Bo and Gavin Schaller.1 sister Roberta Elliott and her husband Nick of Coeur DAlene, ID, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jack, 1 grandson, Brendon Ariaza and 1 granddaughter, Brenda Beck.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or to the Shrine Transportation.
