Kathryn Ann Reicks

Kathryn Ann Reicks, 52, of Sioux City passed away from injuries sustained in an automobile accident Friday, Sept. 7, 2007.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael Catholic Church, 2223 Indian Hills Dr., with the Rev. Gary Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a 7 p.m. vigil service, at St. Michael's Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Kathryn Reicks was born on Nov. 11, 1954, to Jerome Sr. "Jerry" and Barbara (Baum) Reicks in Fremont, Neb. Kathryn attended St. Michael's Grade School and graduated from Bishop Heelan High School in Sioux City in 1973. In 1986, she completed her bachelor's degree in marketing from Iowa State University. She continued her education at Western Iowa Tech Community College receiving degrees in computer programming.

She married L. Michael Cummings on Nov. 15, 1975, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Sioux City. Kathryn was very family-oriented and enjoyed time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include her parents, Jerome Sr. "Jerry" and Barbara Reicks; her seven children, Marisa (Cummings) and Darryl Moore of North Liberty, Iowa, Kristopher Cummings of Sioux City, John Cummings of Sioux City, Andrea Cummings of Linwood, Ill., Katherine Cummings, Adam Cummings and Austin Cummings, all of Sioux City; 11 grandchildren; siblings, Jerry Jr. and Brenda Reicks, Stephen and Karen Reicks, Patricia Woodson and Diane and Larry Glover; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rachael Rebecca Cummings; maternal grandparents, John and Rose (Ries) Baum; and paternal grandparents, Alphonse and Elizabeth (Schmitz) Reicks.

The family requests memorials be sent to Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City for her twin sons' education fund.
