SIOUX CITY -- Kenneth Walter Rees, 65, of Sioux City died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, in Sioux City following a lengthy illness.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, November 27, 2009 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave., with Deacon Ron Pietz of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Kenny was born March 11, 1944, in Portland, Ore., the son of Kenneth E. and Vivian M. (Jenkins) Rees. He came to Sioux City as a child and attended Sioux City schools.
He married Shirley Wittmus on Sept. 10, 1971, in Sioux City. He worked at several Sioux City businesses over the years including Standard Brand, Broyhill and Zenith Corp.
He was baptized at Trimble Untied Methodist Church. He enjoyed bike riding, fishing, playing slot machines and old time country music.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Sioux City; two sons, Kevin Rees and Keith (Tabitha) Rees, all of Sioux City; two brothers, Larry Rees and Del (Linda) Rees, all of Sioux City; two sisters, Darlene Valenica of Eline, Nev., and Debbie (Randy) Grudle of Sidney, Iowa; and four grandchildren, Christin, Caitlin, Carson and Ian Rees.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Tommy and Tony.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chad, Brian and Bob Rees, Richard Strom, Frank Gill and Eric Grudle.
