Max C. Rasmussen, 92, of Sioux City, passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2007, at Countryside Retirement Community Home. A private family service will be held at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.
Max was born on December 17, 1914 near Marcus, Iowa to Hans and Margretha (Laursen) Rasmussen. He graduated from Marcus High School in 1932. Max then graduated from National Business Training School. He then started to work at the Extension Service after graduation in 1934. Max then went to work for Palmer Fruit Company in 1935 and became a manager of that company on January 1, 1947.
Max served his country during W.W.II from 1942 until 1945 in the U.S. Air Corp. where he was stationed in England.
He married Alice Case in Trinity Lutheran Church on August 23, 1947.
On May 1, 1956, he formed his own company APAR Fruit & Vegetable Brokerage Company which he operated until his retirement in 1997.
Max was a fifty year member of the National Fruit and Vegetable Association, various Masonic Organizations and past president of St. Luke Lutheran Church.
Max is survived by his wife, Alice Rasmussen of Sioux City, four children, Pamela Held and her husband George of Cedar Rapids, IA: Paul Rasmussen and his wife Diana of Des Moines, IA; Patricia Pohlman and her husband Tom of Ames, IA; and Perry Rasmussen and his wife Ivy of Iowa City, IA. Grandchildren, Sara Van Horn, Alicia Held Morris, Aaron Rasmussen, Adam Rasmussen, Adrian Rasmussen, Lindsay Pritchard, Brandon Pohlman, Max Rasmussen, and Oscar Rasmussen, two great granddaughters, Grace and Rose Rasmussen, 1 brother and 2 sister.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers.
Memorials may be sent to St. Luke Lutheran Church or to Hospice of Siouxland.
