Ionia P. Rasmussen

SIOUX CITY -- Ionia P. Rasmussen, 67, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, March 5, 2011, at a local hospital.

Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to meyerbroschapels.com.

Ionia was born the daughter of Paul and Edna (Leach) Ritchison on Jan. 12, 1944, in Sioux City. She received her education in Sioux City and attended East High School.

Ionia married Ronald J. Rasmussen on Aug. 8, 1965, in Sioux City. The couple were lifelong Sioux City residents. Ionia worked at Johnson Biscuit before becoming a homemaker and raising her children.

She enjoyed taking weekend trips with her husband, Ronald, which always included shopping. She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and camping. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren, which included going to their sporting events.

Ionia is survived by her husband, Ronald of Sioux City; three sons, Ronald (Kathleen) Rasmussen Jr. of Sioux City, Paul Rasmussen of Sioux City, and Elvin (Jill) Rasmussen of Sioux City; three daughters, Dana (Jason) Davis of Sioux City, Holly (Bill) Margellos of Sioux City, and Cindy Rasmussen and her fiance, Joseph Riker of Sioux City; three brothers, Kenneth Ritchison of Sioux City, Jerry (Judy) Ritchison of Sioux City, and Doyle Ritchison of Sioux City; one sister-in-law, Kay Ritchison of Sioux City; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Paul and Kerm; one sister, Iris; and one sister-in-law, Janice.

Honorary pallbearers for the service will be Ionia's grandchildren.
