Elaine Rasmussen

Mary "Elaine" (Jolin) Rasmussen, 76, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, June 28, 2009, at her residence following a courageous battle with cancer.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Following the service Thursday, there will be a luncheon at 2802 W. Fifth St., Sioux City. Those wishing to attend the graveside services, will meet at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Thursday and drive together to the cemetery. Graveside services will be 2:45 p.m. Thursday in Remsen Community Cemetery, Remsen, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.

Elaine was born Dec. 26, 1932, in Sioux City, to Edward and Edna (Kratz) Jolin.

She is survived by her children, Marlene (Paul) Sell, Audrey (Bill) Massey, Sharon Naples, Kathy Mavis, Sandy Rasmussen, Keith (Kelly) Rasmussen, Suzanne Wold and Tammy (Jay) Summers; her siblings, Charmain Hunter, Rozanne Graves, Maxine Reising, Don (Bev) Jolin and Terry (Steve) Spears; 26 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Niel; and her sisters, Donna Reising and Marlene Jolin.
