SLOAN, Iowa -- Katherine L. (Michael) Rambo, 73, of Sloan passed away Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, at a Sioux City hospital.
Abiding by family wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 28, 2011 at Community Church of Christ in Sloan, with the Rev. Emery Killian as officiant. Visitation with family will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City.
Katherine was born July 5, 1937, in Sioux City, to Glenn and Marion (Hunt) Brown. She received her education in the Sioux City Public Schools.
Katherine married Gregory F. Michael on Sept. 25, 1953. To this union five children were born. The family made their home in Hinton, Iowa, from 1966 until 1983, where Katherine was a beautician. She married Bob Rambo later in life. She enjoyed working with the public, and continued serving others by transporting community members of Sloan to various appointments.
Katherine enjoyed playing cards, and could often be found watching and enjoying various sports. She was a member of the Community Church of Christ in Sloan, the Neighborhood Circle in Salix, Iowa, and enjoyed her affiliation with the American Legion Auxiliary.
Katherine is survived by her children, Gregg Michael and his wife, Tatyana of Everett, Wash., Pam Beeck and her husband, Steven of Le Mars, Iowa, Tom Michael and his wife, Linda of Sloan, Cheryl Kubly of Northglenn, Colo., and Tony Michael and his wife, Laura of Springfield, Mo.; three brothers; two sisters; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Katherine was preceded in death by her parents; and husbands.
