Clarence E. Rabe

PAULLINA, Iowa -- Clarence E. Rabe, 83, of Paullina passed away Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, at Paullina Care Center.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Oakdale Evangelical Free Church in Meriden, Iowa, with the Rev. Clint Hogrefe officiating. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson-Perasso Funeral Home in Sioux City and Goodbody Mortuary in San Diego, Calif.

Clarence was born Feb. 2, 1924, in Letcher, S.D., to Paul and Ida (Muckler) Rabe. He attended school in Mitchell, S.D. He moved with his family to Iowa in 1937 and attended school in Paullina.

He married Beatrice Brown in 1944. To this union three sons were born, Lyle, Mike "Buzzard" and Alan. Beatrice passed away in August 1951. He married Delilah (Fischer) Lund on Oct. 10, 1953. They made their home on a farm south of Paullina and later moved into Paullina in 2004.

He farmed, raised cattle and loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed his pet bear, Buffy, and many pet dogs over the years. He also enjoyed his grandkids and great-grandson.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Delilah; three sons, Lyle (Ruth) and Mike (Fritz), all of Paullina and Alan (Gustavo) of San Diego, Calif.; his grandchildren, Jared (Rachel) Rabe of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Koren (Jon) Kent of Lindstrom, Minn.; a great-grandson, Zachary Rabe of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two sisters, Waldene (Vernon) Lundell of Cherokee, Iowa, and Iona (Kip) Nelson of Denver, Colo.; and a brother, Paul (Marjorie) Rabe of Paullina.

Honorary pallbearers will be David Rohrs, Tom Rohrs, Jim Rohrs, "Patchy" Johnson, Don Burmakow and Zachary Rabe.

Clarence will be missed by many.
