Joyce E. Pratt, 86, of Sioux City died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at her residence.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday January 8, 2008 at First Congregational United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Alva Hohl officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
Joyce was born Jan. 31, 1921, in Soldier, Iowa, to Ingval and Ella Christina (Brethaur) Olson. She graduated from Soldier High School and received her teaching degree from Wayne State College. She married Earl D. Pratt Jr. on April 4, 1942, in Ute, Iowa. Prior to her marriage to Earl, she taught school in Soldier.
She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ and also was a member of Tri-T, PTO, Just Another Dance Club and several art organizations. Joyce enjoyed art and was an excellent painter. She also enjoyed animals, especially dogs and cats. She loved ballroom dancing and reading books. She was a wonderful homemaker, mother and devoted wife. Her family will miss her warm and caring nature.
Survivors include her husband, Earl Pratt of Sioux City; a son, E. Dave III (Joan) Pratt of Sioux City; a daughter, Mary (Greg) Hoversten of Sioux City; six grandchildren, David, Ruthie and Ben Pratt, Casey, Josh and Alisha Hoversten; and a great-grandson, Jeffery Pratt.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
