JEFFERSON, S.D. -- Alice M. Pranschke, 89, of Jefferson passed away Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at Prairie Estates Rehab and Care Center in Elk Point, S.D.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City, with the Rev. Jeff Adel officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.mm. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Alice was born Sept. 8, 1919, in Salix, Iowa, to John and Alice (Norton) Lesline. She received her education in the Salix School System.
She married Paul Pranschke on April 16, 1938, in Sioux City. Twin daughters were born to the union, Edna and Eva. The couple farmed in the Westfield, Iowa area before relocating to Jefferson in 1952. She offered day care services in her home for years, while raising her daughters. She was a wonderful homemaker.
She enjoyed working with ceramics, painting china and numerous other crafts. She was a past member of the Chamber of Commerce in Jefferson as well as a member of the Jefferson Senior Citizens committee.
Survivors include her daughter and her husband, Eva and Rodger Heck of North Sioux City; granddaughters, Crystal Jorgensen, Janet Kluver and Bill Dennison and Pamella and Alan Stokely; and great-grandchildren, Courtney Sterling, Lacey Kluver, Lindsay Kluver, Heather Oberg, Steven Oberg and Paul Oberg.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul in April 1980; daughter, Edna Pranschke; brothers, Elvin, John and Asa Lesline; and a sister, Violet Clabaugh.
Pallbearers will be Steven Oberg, Paul Oberg, Alan Stokely, Ricky Christiensen, Bill Dennison and Jake Stokely.
