SIOUX CITY -- Myra L. Potts, 75 of Meza, AZ and a former Sioux City resident, passed away after a sudden illness on Sunday, October 18, 2009 at Hospice of The Valley in Mesa.
Come celebrate her home going at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Rev. Roger Madden officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with a reception to follow. Visitation will be the hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Myra was born October 28, 1933 in Waseca, Minnesota the daughter of Frank and Dorothy (Earnst) Fitzgerald. She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Bishop Heelan High School. In 1953 she married Danny Baker and they had three daughters. She later married Doyle Potts in 1974. The couple moved to Mesa in 1991 where he died 1997.
Myra was a devout member of Red Mountain Christian Center in Mesa where she was active in Bible, Home, Prayer, Singles and 55+ Groups. She was also involved with ministries such as visiting the sick, church meals, hospitality and visiting with imprisoned women. Her beautiful voice was a joy to many. She loved singing in the choir, for groups, weddings and funerals.
She is survived by 3 daughters and their husbands, Cyndi and Brad Buchholz of Oakland, NE, Ellen and Mark Ayers of Sioux City and Dana and Keith Miller of Grafton, WI; a nephew, James Fitzgerald and his wife, Andrea of Sioux City; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, Doug Fitzgerald.
