Frank G. Post

Frank G. Post, 84, of Sioux City passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at his residence surrounded by his family and dog.

Private family service will be held Friday at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Tory Lightcap officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Frank was born June 27, 1926, in Sioux City, to Henry and Bertha (TerBurg) Post. After graduating from Central High School in 1944, he joined the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Frank was aboard the USS Idaho during the liberation of the Philippines, where he handled the ship's ordnance and worked in communications until the war's end.

He married Konstance M. Klingler on May 12, 1956. They made their home in the Riverside area of Sioux City. They celebrated their 50th anniversary at St. Thomas' Church in May 2006.

Frank worked for Armour and Company from 1946 until the plant closed in the early 1960s. After that, he was a well known fixture working as deputy treasurer at the Motor Vehicle Division in the lower level of the Woodbury County Courthouse until his retirement in 1988, at the age of 62.

Golfing was his passion and he enjoyed it with friends at the Elmwood Golf Course, which later became the Sioux City Boat Club. He continued to golf at various courses until a few years ago. He enjoyed visits from family members, spending time with his dog, Tommy, and keeping his yard in perfect shape.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Konnie; his four children, Becky of Waterloo, Iowa, and Tom, Frank and David, all of Sioux City; eight grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; a brother, Henry Post Jr. of Overland Park, Kan.; and a sister, Johanna Oleinik of Rockville, Md.
