Lois I. Peasley, 86, of North Sioux City, formerly of Sioux City, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, at her residence.
As per her wishes, the body was cremated. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2008, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. David Schoop officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Mound Cemetery, Racine, Wis. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home. Mrs. Peasley was born Jan. 28, 1922, in Racine, Wis., the daughter of Richard and Rose (Lehman) Siegmund. She graduated from high school in Racine.
She married Robert Peasley on March 21, 1959, in Silver City, N.M. He preceded her in death on Oct. 27, 2001, in Tucson, Ariz. She worked for eight years as a teacher's aide in the Sioux City School System.
She enjoyed counted cross-stitch and putting together jigsaw puzzles. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. She started the 4-H group called Trial Blazers, which was horseback riding for the handicapped, which later turned into S.T.A.R.S.
Survivors include a son, E. Calvert (Tina) Steibel of Acton, Calif.; two daughters, Cathy (Don) Berg of North Sioux City and Joy (Mac) McGuire of Concorde, N.C.; a stepson, Raymond (Jackie) Rightmer of Pocahontas, Iowa; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joan Newbro of Burbank, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, Carol Taivalkoski.
