Esther I. Parsons, 94, of Sioux City died Monday, Dec. 11, 2006, at Casa de Paz Nursing and Rehab Center.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Martha Anderson of Church of All Nations officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Esther Kruger was born to Henry and Meta (Hanke) Kruger on April 20, 1912, at a home west of Herman, Neb. After she married Ralph Parsons on Oct. 18, 1952, they lived in Sioux City until his death in 1994.
She was employed at Martins and Neisner Brothers in Sioux City. She also was a Shaklee sales associate.
They were members of Allemande Leftover's Square Dance Club. She enjoyed craft projects and was an accomplished seamstress. Her volunteer work for Goodwill, especially at the Treasure Chest, meant a lot to her and she was honored to receive the Goodwill Volunteer of the Year Award in 1992.
She is survived by her nieces, Barbara Peterson of Lincoln, Neb., Beverly Thomsen of Sumner, Iowa, and Gayle Hansen of Greencastle, Ind.; a nephew, Gary Kruger of Herman, Neb.; and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Jones of Lakeland, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her three siblings, Ernest Kruger, Harlan Kruger and Helen Kruger.
