Leone Hummel Parson, 96, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, May 31, 2007, at Westwood Nursing and Rehab Center.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Merrill Muller of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Leone was born April 7, 1911, in Perry Township, Plymouth County, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Margaret A. (Dunn) Kelley. She attended Hinton (Iowa) Public Schools.
She was united in marriage to Earl H.E. Hummel. Earl preceded her in death in 1987, in Sioux City. She had been employed with Johnson Biscuit, now known as Interbake Foods, for several years prior to retirement.
She was a member of the Bakers and Confectionary Union Local 433 and the Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed playing cards and traveling.
Survivors include two sons, Robert E. Hummel of Sioux City, and Roger L. Hummel of McCook Lake, S.D.; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Keith Edward Hummel; three sisters, Mayme Grakas, Helen Parkhill and Lucille Height; seven brothers, Ed, Lee, Ole, Skeed, Louis, Bob and Harold Kelley; and a daughter-in-law, Roseann Hummel.
Pallbearers will be Robert Lansworth, Bill Mulder, Keith Hummel, Ron Hummel, Larry Hummel, Gary Hummel, Nick Hummel and Josh Hummel.
