Betty J. Oster

March 25, 1928 — April 30, 2008

Betty J. Oster, 80, of Sioux City, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at a local hospital. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2008, from 4-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. a prayer service will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2008, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Reverend Mike Zable officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Betty was born on March 25, 1928, in Greensboro, N.C. to James Buford and Elsie (Chrisman) Hall. She grew up in Greensboro and attended school there. Betty moved to Sioux City in 1951. On March 24, 1951, she married Eugene Oster in Elk Point, S.D.

Betty worked at St. Methodist as a nurses aide for 20 years. She then began working at Johnson Biscuit now known as Interbake for 40 years, retiring in 1990. Betty enjoyed gardening and was a member of First Covenant Church in Sioux City.

Betty is survived by her son, Donald Oster of Sioux City, IA; 2 sisters, Nancy Kenny of Greensboro, NC; and Glenda Moore of Burlington, NC; 1 brother, William Hall of Greensboro, NC.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Eugene Oster in 1995, brother, James Hall who was killed in Viet Nam in 1965 and a sister, Elsie Elaine May.
