SIOUX CITY -- Ronald Truman Olson, 67, of Sioux City passed away Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital.
In accordance with Ron's wishes, the body will be cremated. A celebration of life service will be at a later date in Albert Lea, Minn. Arrangements in Sioux City are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Ronald Truman Olson was born July 3, 1942, in Albert Lea, Minn., the son of Truman and Deloris (Rebbe) Olson. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church. He attended Albert Lea schools and served in the U.S. Army in Germany as a artillery gunman. He started his vocation in roofing at the age of 16 and did this in various locations for 50 years.
Memories of Ron will always include his culinary skills at the barbecue grill, when he cooked "shicken" for his family, his easy going laughter and his lifelong desire to tell a good joke before he forgot the punch line. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends and all who loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Olson of Sioux City; children, Rhonda Schukei, Sheila and Rick Olson and Robbie Carney and his wife, Linda, all of Sioux City and Jeff Carney and his wife, Pamela of Decorah, Iowa; grandchildren, Nelette, Rocco, Kacey, Jade, Jakki, Skylar and Alex; his siblings, David Olson and his wife, Carol of Oronoco, Minn., Nancy Schwarz of Albert Lea, Janice and her husband, Kent Hershey of New Brighton, Minn., William Olson and his wife, Rita of Albert Lea, Diane and her husband, Kenneth Sorensen of Albert Lea and Linda and her husband, Lamar Peterson of Emmons, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Truman and Deloris Olson.
