Marcella L. Olmstead, 83, of Sioux City passed away Monday, May 26, 2008, at Countryside Estates in Cherokee, Iowa following a brief illness.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Riverside Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Marcella was born July 13, 1924, in Akron, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Bertha (Meinen) Tapper. She married Virgil Olmstead in 1961. She was a life long resident of Sioux City until 2005 when she moved to Countryside Estates.
In her early years, she attended Hunt School for the Deaf. She enjoyed working in the kitchen at Lutheran Hospital.
Throughout her life, she loved attending church, eating at restaurants, making crafts and playing her harmonica. She always enjoyed spending time with family and friends and meeting new people wherever she went. Her enduring positive attitude and sense of humor inspired everyone who knew her.
She is survived by a son, Brian Olmstead; a granddaughter, Destanie Olmstead; a sister, Darlene Roest; a sister-in-law, Betty Tapper; a brother-in-law, Clayton :Kit" Goodwin; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and five brothers and sisters.
