Evelyn Anne O'Harrow-Davis

Evelyn Anne O'Harrow-Davis of Sioux City died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at her home surrounded by her family.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave. Graveside services will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Evelyn was born April 8, 1919, in Sioux City, the daughter of Milo and Virginia (Braun) O'Harrow. She graduated from East High School, then from Morningside College. She was a lifetime resident of Sioux City.

She was a school teacher. She also worked for the Sioux City Library and the Sioux City Museum.

She was of the Presbyterian faith. She also belonged to the Wesleyan Women's Circle. She was a volunteer at the Red Cross as a nurses aide during World War II. She belonged to the Sioux City Senior Center, the Sioux City Chorus and a tap dance group. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing and playing the piano.

Survivors include three sons, William (Sally) Davis Jr. of Aurora, Colo., Larry (Barbara) Davis of Maplewood, Minn., and Frank Davis of Sioux City; two daughters, Virginia (Charles) Edwards of Sioux City and Marilyn Nyreen of Sioux City; 16 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Gordon (Mary Ellen) O'Harrow of Sioux City, Warren (Peg) O'Harrow of New Mexico, and Robert O'Harrow of Arizona; and a sister, Adela Wood of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two spouses, William Davis and Doyle Bayne; and a brother, Leonard "Bud" O'Harrow.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Davis, Clint Nyreen, Dustin Garth, Paul Wood, Bryan Depover and Steve Peters. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Davis Jr., Gary Davis and Steve Steffen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland or the Sioux City Senior Center.
