Gus J. Ntounos, 82, of Sioux City died Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2008 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, with the Revs. George Pappas and George Dokos officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today, with the family present beginning at 6 p.m., and a Trisagion service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Gus was born May 1, 1926, in Greece, to Yianni and Yianoula (Spinos) Ntounos.
He married Georgia Foundas on Feb. 10, 1952, in Filatra, Greece. She died July 29, 2004, in Sioux City. Gus and Georgia and their two daughters came to the U.S. and to Sioux City in 1968. Gus worked for IBP for more than 20 years, retiring in 1989.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Gus enjoyed watching hockey and soccer games.
Survivors include two daughters, Janet Antonopoulos and her husband, Perry of Sioux City, and Aphrodite Sengos and her husband, Andy of Sioux Falls, S.D.; five grandsons, Tony Antonopoulos and his wife, Shanda, Kosta and Chris Antonopoulos, Demetri and Kosta Sengos; a great-grandson, Perry Antonopoulos; a sister, Afrodity Sengos and her husband, Gus; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Georgia.
Pallbearers will be his five grandsons.
Memorials may be made in his name to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
