Norman E. Nobbe

SIOUX CITY -- Norman E. Nobbe, 76, of Sioux City died Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at his residence following a brief illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kenneth Hsu officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to meyerbroschapels.com.

Norman was born Feb. 9, 1933, in Martinsburg, Neb., the son of Fred and Minnie (Mattes) Nobbe. He grew up in Martinsburg and graduated from Allen (Neb.) High School in 1952. He farmed on the family farm with his father for several years.

He married Joan Sievers on Aug. 5, 1967, in Charter Oak, Iowa. He worked for various businesses in the Sioux City area with his last employment being at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and spending time with his three granddaughters. He enjoyed sports and was a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Survivors include his wife, Joan of Sioux City; five children, Pam Nobbe of Sioux City, Dexter Nobbe of Sioux City, Don Nobbe and his wife, Roberta of Russellville, Ark., Norma Jo Majerus and her husband, Rick of Papillion, Neb., and Christina Kejriwal and her husband, Anup of Seattle, Wash.; two brothers, Lloyd Nobbe of Lawton, Iowa, and Wilford Nobbe of South Sioux City; two sisters, Lucille Koeppe and her husband, Ervin of Guthrie Center, Iowa, and Virgie Gensler of Laurel, Neb.; his mother-in-law, Lola Sievers; and five grandchildren, Amaya and Sanya Kejriwal, Lizzie Majerus and Ron and Shane Majerus.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Orville; his father-in-law, Herbert Sievers; three sisters-in-law, Betty Nobbe, Ruth Nobbe and Doris Nobbe; and two brothers-in-law, Larry Sievers and Earl Gensler.

Pallbearers will be Randy Gensler, Scott Koeppe, Ron Majerus, Alan Nobbe, Rick Gensler and Mike Gensler. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Nobbe, Frank Koeppe, Gary Nobbe and Shane Majerus.

Memorials may be made in his name to Hospice of Siouxland.
