Gary L. Nichols, 59, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital following a battle with cancer.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Abu Bekr Shrine Temple, with Neil Peck, C.L.S., Shrine Chaplain, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a Masonic Rites service at 7 p.m., at Abu Bekr Shrine Temple. Gary was born May 29, 1947, in Sioux City, the son of Don and Dorothy (Martin) Nichols.
He married Annette Cutler on Aug. 5, 1967, in Sioux City. Gary belonged to the Shrine and was the president of the Wrecking Crew in 1994. He also became the director of the Shriners in 2004. He was a member of the Sioux City Eagles Club. He loved the Magnificent board of directors and was their road manager in the late '60s and early '70s.
Gary loved cribbage, NASCAR and annually traveling to the Black Hills.
Survivors include his wife, Annette of Sioux City; two sons, Martin and wife, Angela of Sioux City and Jon and wife, Amanda of Sergeant Bluff; a brother, John and wife, Vicki of Hastings, Neb.; nine grandchildren, Hanna, Bethany, Elizabeth, Colton, Emma, Trinity, Sidney, Ethan and Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents.
Pallbearers will be Alan Fagan Jr., Joe Mildorfer, George Quint, Chris Paine, Chris Twiford and John Nordstrom.
