Dorothy E. Newberg, 85, of Hinton, IA died with her loved ones present Thursday, October 19, 2006 at Bickford Cottage following a recent illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at the Hinton United Methodist Church with Nancy Jackson officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m., Monday, October 23, 2006 with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a time of remembrance at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Dorothy was born December 13, 1920 at home in Hinton, IA, the daughter of Clarence and Dora (Stockburger) Brown. She graduated from Hinton High School. She attended Morningside College where she received a four-year degree in education.

Dorothy loved children and enjoyed her years of teaching 3rd grade in Orange City, Cherokee and Ft. Dodge. She retired from teaching in 1971.

On June 30th, 1972 Dorothy was married to Virgil A. Newberg of Hinton in Humboldt, IA by the Rev. Ralph Kitterman, a former pastor in Hinton. The couple made their home in Hinton.

Dorothy was a lifelong member of Hinton United Methodist Church. She was involved with the Womens Society, Bible Study, Eastern Star and a member of Kappa Delta sorority.

Dorothy is survived by her sister, Karen Reinhart of Orlando, FL, Nephew Karl Preusser and wife Kathleen of Glendale, CA, Niece Jodi Mustoe and husband Mathew and grandnieces Mackenzie and Morgan Mustoe of Orlando, FL. Step Children Virgil Newberg Jr. of Hinton, IA, Beverly Albers and husband Dale of Hinton, IA, Johneen Newberg, Hinton, IA, Step grandchildren Eric Newberg and his wife Lori, Melissa and her husband Larry Lencki, Shelly and her husband Mark Mohl, Mike Albers and his wife Amy. Step great grandchildren Jennifer and Johnathan Newberg and Cassidy and McKenzie Mohl.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Virgil Newberg, her parents Clarence and Dora Brown and a stepson Norman Newberg.

Pallbearers will be Eric Newberg, Johnathan Newberg, Mike Albers, Gary Schindel, Robert Bennett, and Jason Bennett. Honorary Pallbearers are Mark Mohl, Karl Preusser, Virgil Newberg, Jr. and Dale Albers
