Rose A. Nelson, 86, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, March 22, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mark Lutheran Church, with the Rev. John Hagberg officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one-half hour prior to the services Monday. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Rose was born Oct. 10, 1920, in Sac County, Iowa, to Fredrick and Albertena (Kreft) Ausborn. She attended school in Calhoun and Sac County. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Sac County.
She married Robert E. Nelson on Sept. 28, 1946, in Sioux City. He preceded her in death on Nov. 10, 1988. In 1941, Rose came to Sioux City. She started working at Sioux City Battery. She then worked at Johnson Biscuit on the cracker packing floor and later became the floor supervisor. Rose then worked at Jarvis Candies until her retirement.
She was an early member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and was involved in the choir, W.E.L.C.A. and Rachael's Circle. Rose loved gardening, flowers, camping and birds.
Survivors include a daughter, Charlotte Anderson of Dunlap, Iowa; two grandchildren, Barb and her husband, Steve Smith of Dunlap, and Jeff and his wife, Conni Anderson of Moorhead, Iowa; five great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Donald Ausborn of Lytton, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and two sisters.
