Cecil "Cy" Neiman, 85, of Sioux City died Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at Countryside Senior Living from complications of amyloidosis and a heart attack.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2008 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Daniel Guenther officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Anthon, Iowa. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Cecil was born May 16, 1923, in a farm near Beemer, Neb., the son of William and Clara (Zipf) Neiman, the youngest of five children. He graduated from Bancroft (Neb.) High School in 1942. He attended Barber College in Sioux City and worked as a barber for 27 years.
He married Catherine Kvidera on June 30, 1951, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon, Iowa. After his career as a barber, he worked for the Sioux City Community School System for 15 years.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was a volunteer at Mercy Medical Center - Sioux City and Queen of Peace for many years. He loved his family, church, music and flowers, especially roses.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Bill and Ann of Columbus, Neb.; a daughter and her husband, Regina and Mike Black of Sully, Iowa; four grandchildren, Daniel and Tiffany Neiman and Nicholas and Crystal Black; and nieces, nephews and in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Roy, Leland and Allan; and a sister, Alta Leimer.
Pallbearers will be Dan Neiman, Jason Kvidera, Dennis Kvidera, Marty Gubbels, Tom Kvidera and Vince Kvidera.
Memorials may be made in his name to Hospice of Siouxland.
