Theresa E. Terry Murphy, 86 of Sioux City, IA passed away suddenly on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011at her home.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 8, 2011 at St. Boniface Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday with a rosary recited by the Catholic Daughters of The Americas at 4:00 p.m., a Vigil service at 7:00 p.m. and the family present 6:00-8:00 p.m. all at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Theresa was born April 15, 1924 in Clear Lake, SD the daughter of Sam and Rose (Lastrico) Saccony. She graduated from high school in Sioux Falls, SD. In 1944 she moved to Sioux City. On June 24, 1946 she married Charles J. Murphy in Sioux City and to that union they had 5 sons and 2 daughters. For 13 years she worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield as a claims examiner and retired in 1986. Charles died on April 5, 1987.
Terry was a longtime active member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, the Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters of The Americas and the Carmel Guild. She loved gardening and playing cards and enjoyed baking and cooking for her family. In earlier years she was a hospital volunteer and was involved at the Siouxland Y. Survivors include 6 children, Michael (and Rita) Murphy of Globe, AZ, Shannon Murphy, Dan (and Debe) Murphy, John (and Roxann) Murphy,
James Murphy all of Sioux City and Marianne (and Doug) Scarboro of Denver, CO; 3 sisters, Fran (and Tom) Paulos of New Mexico, Lois Hoelker of Sioux Citify and Mary Ann OToole of New Mexico; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a son, Tim Murphy.
