James "Jay" (Kirchner) Mothershead, 28, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, March 15, 2008, in Sioux City.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Jay was born Aug. 1, 1979, in Sioux City, to Rebecca Mothershead and Joseph Mothershead. He had lived in Sioux City most of his life and graduated from West High School.
He was recently employed at Wells' and enjoyed his job very much. He was a hard worker and enjoyed providing for a family of his own. When he got laid off from Wells', he immediately started working through ASI.
In his free time, he enjoyed grilling out, fishing, hunting, bonfires, being by the ocean and just being around family and friends. In the last year, he had picked up a new hobby, playing darts. He loved conversations and just goofing around. He was a night owl and would stay up all night watching the Simpson's episodes over and over. He enjoyed spending time with all the kids and would never turn one down. His favorite holiday was the Fourth of July and nobody could come up with an excuse good enough to miss family, friends, soul food, beer and blowing stuff up.
He had a heart of gold and seldom had the nerve to say no to anyone for anything. He was a great person to have in your life. He will always be deeply missed and remembered. The love in our hearts will never change even though life does.
Left to cherish his memories are his mother, Rebecca Mothershead; his fiancee, Kassandra Gugat; his stepdaughter to be, Branigan Gugat; two brothers, Mathew Mothershead and his significant other, Jayme, and Herbert Mothershead and his wife, Kristina; his sister, Izzlee and her husband, Patrick Hanson; three nephews, Dontae, Moxx and Logan; three nieces, Raelee, Michaela and Jazmine; and many more family members. We would also like to mention his best friend, John Harris.
He had gone home to be reunited with his grandfather, the Rev. Herbert Mothershead; his father, Joseph Mothershead; and his brother, Joseph Jacob.
Pallbearers will be Damon Mothershead, Michael Henry, Quincey Mothershead, Darren Mothershead, Brian Bradford and Will Hardnett. Honorary pallbearers will be John Harris, Richard Willmer, Matt Mothershead and Herbert Mothershead.
