Joanne L. Moreland, 77, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Private graveside services will be held in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Joanne was born April 22, 1929, in Sioux City, the daughter of Orville C. and Myrtle A. (Kunkel) Spaulding, She graduated from Central High School in Sioux City.
She married Ernest L. Moreland on Feb. 14, 1948, in Sioux City. She was a life long Sioux City resident. She had been a waitress at the T.J. Martin Department Store at one time. Later, she was a waitress at the Silver Steer Restaurant. More recently, she was employed with Interbake Foods, retiring from there in 1994.
She was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church. She was an avid bowler and especially enjoyed time spent with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Ernest; her mother, Myrtle Spaulding of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Barry and Kay Moreland of Sioux City; three daughters, Linda and her husband, Robert Schmidt of North Sioux City, Laura Moreland of Sioux City and Lisa Lalumendre of Council Bluffs, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Todd Schmidt, Tyla Jasman, Jay Brannan, Brandy Moreland, Brian Moreland, Chad Moreland, Matthew Lalumendre and Dean Lalumendre; and seven great-grandchildren, Cody Schmidt, Damian Moreland, Xavier Moreland, Derrek Moreland, Zack Brannan, Brandon Jasman and Bryant Jasman.
She was preceded in death by her father; a son, Gary Moreland; and a grandson, Aaron Moreland.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
