Ralph D. Moore, 81, of Sioux City passed away Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab Center from complications of a stroke.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military graveside rites. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Ralph was born June 1, 1928, in Bronson, Iowa, the son of James DeWitt and Dorothy (Boehm) Moore. He served with the U.S. Air Force Reserve, 174th Fighter Bomber Squad, at the Sioux City Air Base.

On Feb. 16, 1957, he was united in marriage to Marilyn J. (Jensen) Dierking. He worked at the Woodbury County Courthouse as deputy treasurer until his retirement in 1992.

Ralph was a longtime active member of Calvary Lutheran Church. He was a member of the VFW and coached Little League baseball in earlier years. His hobbies included golfing, bowling, repairing lawn mowers, woodworking, coffee group and walking with friends at the mall. For many years, his greatest enjoyment was camping with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; five children and their spouses, Stuart and Sheryll Moore of Sioux City, Mark and Shawnda Moore of Des Moines, Kyle and Tracy Moore of Sioux City, Julie and Doug Carey of Big Lake, Minn., and Jeanie and John Jones of Spokane, Wash.; 11 grandchildren, Adam and Nicholas Jones, Emma, Abby, Brenna and Michael Carey, Jacob and Drew Moore, Nolan Moore, Bryce and Kayden Moore; a brother and his wife, Earl and Joyce Moore of Sioux City; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harold Moore; and two sisters, Gladys Mount and Mildred Kerkes.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Drew, Dave Drew, Steve Moore, Kevin Lang, Nicholas Jones, Michael Carey and Jacob Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Moore, Jeff Jensen, Kirk Jensen, Adam Jones, Drew Moore, Nolan Moore, Bryce Moore and Kayden Moore.
