Gailord W. Mitzner, 91, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, at Embassy Rehabilitation Care Center.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Graceland Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Renee Spaulding of Morningside Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Mr. Mitzner was born in Otoe County, Neb., the son of William and Lena (Pruessing) Mitzner. He had lived in Sioux City since 1936. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
He married Betty Grindberg on Nov. 1, 1941, in Sioux City. She died Oct. 13, 2005, in Sioux City. He was the owner and operator of Soo Line-up for 30 years.
He was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church, North Riverside Masonic Lodge 622 A.F. & A.M. and was a past president of the bowling league. He enjoyed golfing and was a fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Marcia and Gerald Fisher of Sioux City and Gayle-ann and Roger Douglas of Crete, Neb.; five grandchildren, Michael Fisher and his wife, Terri, Jane and her husband, John Olson, Jill and her husband, Brad Robbins, Robb Douglas and Joy Mace; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sons, William and Jon Mitzner.
