Sherry A. Miller, 54, of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2011 at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Reverend Roger Madden officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, May 2, 2011 from 4 to 8 P.M. with the family present from 6 to 8 P.M. and a prayer service at 7 P.M. Online condolences can be sent to meyerbroschapels.com.
Sherry was born the daughter of Virgil and Dorothy (Irwin) Stewart on April 1, 1957 in Sioux City. She received her education in the Siouxland area and attended Hinton High School. Sherry married John Miller on July 29, 2005 in Sioux City. She was a lifelong Sioux City resident.
Sherry was most recently employed with the Sioux City Community Schools. She also had worked for Gateway and Mercy Medical Center throughout the years.
She was a huge Elvis Presley fan. She enjoyed camping, traveling, shopping, cooking, yard work, and her dog, Jimmie. Her greatest passion in life was her family and her grandchildren.
Sherry is survived by her husband, John of Sioux City; two sons, Jason (Debra) Davis of Sioux City, and Jeremy Boddy of Sioux City; one step-son, Christopher Miller of Sioux City; one daughter, Jessica (Matthew) Tank of Sioux City; one brother, Eddie Stewart of Sergeant Bluff; five sisters, Joann (Sonny) McQuillen of Sioux City, Joyce (Dick) Brown of Sioux City, Mary (Robert) Lewis of Sioux City, Sandy (Danny) Koopman of St. Louis, Missouri, and Deb (Doug) Wagner of Sioux City; and two grandchildren, Jacob and Justice. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ivan Butch; and one sister, Carol.
The family requests that memorials be made in Sherrys memory to the Hirshberg Foundation, 2990 S. Sepulveda Blvd. Suite 300C, Los Angeles, CA 60064. This foundation is dedicated to pancreatic cancer research.
