Eunice A. Miller 89 of Sioux City, IA passed away peacefully and joyfully joined her Lord and Savior on Friday, Dec. 24, 2010 while surrounded by her family at Westwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church with Rev. Kenny Hsu officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. and the family present 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Eunice was born April 14, 1921 in South Sioux City, NE the daughter of Willy F. and Elizabeth (Winter) Scheel. She graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1939. On February 23, 1941 she married Vernelle W. Vern Miller at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Sioux City. She worked part time helping her Dad in the office at Hofling Plumbing. Eunice later worked part time in the office of Cargill Salt and Molasses Division. She also assisted her husband at home with bookkeeping and income tax work for a few businesses and friends. Vern passed away July 25, 2004 in Sioux City.

Eunice was a lifelong member at St. Pauls Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, was a member of the Mr. & Mrs. Club, served on the finance committee and was financial secretary for more than 40 years. She was a charter member of the Lamplighters for the Lutheran Service Auxiliary.

She loved animals, especially dogs and working in her yard. She had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed sharing jokes with others.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Richard and Joleen Miller; a daughter and her husband, Beverly and Ken Mestelle; and a granddaughter, Mackenzie Mestelle all of Minneapolis, MN; two sisters, Mabel Greene of Denison, IA and Alice Kruithoff of Sioux City, IA. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a sister, Esther Culley and two brothers, Merl Scheel and Floyd Scheel.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Lutheran Hour or June E. Nylen Cancer Center.
