Ruth Menard, 79, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, at her residence.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. James Bruch officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 4 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Ruth was born Dec. 10, 1930, in Sioux City, to John and Gertrude (Moniger) Wilton. She attended Central High School in Sioux City.
She married Armand Menard on March 10, 1948, in Pender, Neb. Ruth was employed at Hawkeye Adjustment Company as a bookkeeper.
She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and the 1st Friday Lunch Club at the church. Ruth enjoyed sewing, playing piano, making quilts and making clothing for her children and grandchildren. She loved to work with flowers, loved to cook and always had a big holiday meal. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Armand of Sioux City; a son, Paul and his wife, Denise of Merrill, Iowa; daughters, Doris and special friend, Mike Owens of North Sioux City, and Mary and her husband, John Woodard of Sioux City; sisters, Helen Cory of Sioux City, and Jessie Bell of Seattle, Wash.; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Armand III; five brothers; and two sisters.
Pallbearers will be Paul Wilton, Rick Scott, Aaron De Laughter, Mike Owen, Corey Zautke and Mike Schmeling.
