Mary Ruth Melentovich

Mary Ruth Melentovich, 84 of Sioux City, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Countryside Retirement Home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 from 3-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. A vigil service will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Monsignor Roger Augustine celebrating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Ruth was born May 11, 1923 in Sioux City to Charles and Helen (Hoebelheinrich) Morgan. She grew up in Sioux City and attended and graduated from Cathedral High School. Ruth worked at various places after school before becoming a switch board operator at the telephone company.

On April 24, 1948, she married Walter Melentovich at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City. They made their home in Sioux City and enjoyed a happy life together. Ruth enjoyed family get togethers, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Treinen and husband Max of Remsen, IA, grandchildren, Kairee Gesink and husband Nick of Sioux Center, IA, and Nathan Treinen and wife Kristin and their daughter Paige of Sioux City, 2 sisters, Adeline Uhl and husband Ray, and Barbara Meier and husband Duane both of Sioux City, 4 brothers, Jim Morgan and wife Louise of Scottsdale, AZ, Ray Morgan and wife Sandy of Cottage Grove, MN, Al Morgan and wife Bev of Scottsdale, AZ and Sam Morgan and wife Mary of Sioux City, 1 sister-in-law, Helen Melentovich of Omaha, NE. and 18 nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Walter in June of 1989, sister-in-law, Helen Morgan, and brother-in-law, Sam Melentovich, and seven half brothers.
