Jerome Paul Mead

SIOUX CITY -- Jerome P. "Jerry" Mead, 77, of Aurora, Colo., formerly of Sioux City, died Sunday, April 26, 2009, in Denver, Colo.

Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2009 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. James Bruch officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Jerry was born July 22, 1931, in Sioux City, the son of John and Caroline (Thum) Mead. He attended St. Boniface Grade School and graduated from Trinity High School in 1949.

He married Joan Neswick on March 26, 1951, in Sioux City. He worked for Peterson Doyle Paint Co. before entering the Air National Guard, where he served for two years. Upon his discharge, he went back to Peterson Doyle until he started working for Roberts Dairy as a route deliveryman. He later worked at Metz Baking, retiring in 1980.

He was a longtime member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Joan (Neswick) of Aurora, Colo.; a daughter and her husband, Connie and Mike Lennon of Aurora; four sons and their wives, Michael and Dee Mead of Omaha, Denny and Cathy Mead of Sioux City, Dave and Holly Mead of Sioux City and Scott and Elise Mead of Bartlett, Tenn.; three sisters, Margaret Petrucka of Cherokee, Iowa, Helen Wescot of Van Buren, Ark., and Cathy Underwood of Lees Summit, Mo.; 19 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Francis Mead; and a granddaughter, Tracy Michelle.
