SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Elmer P. "Mac" McNamara, 73, of South Sioux City died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2008, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City, with the Rev. Daniel Wittrock officiating. Burial will be at a later date in St. Michael's Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Mac was born Sept. 10, 1934, in Akron, Iowa, to William D. and Sarah E. (Madden) McNamara.

He married Patricia J. Smith on Sept. 17, 1957, in Yankton, S.D. He had lived all of his life in Sioux City and South Sioux City. He was employed at Standard Bearings Company in Sioux City for more than 40 years, retiring in July 1997.

He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, having held offices including grand knight, faithful navigator and district deputy. Mac enjoyed camping, traveling south for the winters, vehicles, anything Irish and especially his children.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia of South Sioux City; four sons, Randy of McCook Lake, S.D., Dan and his wife, Mary of South Sioux City, Tim and his wife, Bev of Dakota City, and Mike and his wife, Sherry of Greeley, Colo.; a daughter, Colleen Mortensen and her husband, Larry of Loveland, Colo.; and grandchildren, Sarah, Samantha, Shawn, Kayla, Taylor, Abby and Samantha.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond W., James J. "JoJo," Allen F. and Thomas; and two sisters, Nellie D. Lewis and Ethel S. Carey.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
