Diana L. McDermott, 60, of Sioux City, passed away unexpectedly at her home following at extended illness. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 from 3-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. A vigil service will then begin at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at St. Boniface Catholic Church with Father James Bruch celebrating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Diana was born on November 30, 1946 to Wally and Eillen (Cole) Teska in Sioux City. She grew up in Sioux City and attended St. Boniface grade school and graduated from Heelan High School in 1965. While she attended Heelan, she was active in Cheerleading and track. Later she graduated from Stewarts Beauty College. Diana owned and operated Lady Dis Hair, Tan & Tone for 35 years.
On October 28, 1994, she married Jim McDermott in Sioux City. Diana was an accomplished musician; she enjoyed playing for wedding and also at St. Boniface in her younger years. Diana also loved cars, traveling, landscaping, bowling & especially time with her family and grandchildren.
Diana is survived by 3 sons, Kirk Carmichael and his wife Dawn of San Diego, CA; Craig Carmichael and his wife Martha of Huxley, IA; Clint Carmichael and his wife Tammie of Omaha, NE; 3 step children, Dan McDermott and his wife Sarah of Plymouth, MN; Amy Haas and her husband Craig of Burnsville, MN; and Sherry McDermott of St. Cloud, MN. 14 grandchildren, her mother, Eileen Teska of Sioux City, IA; a sister, Darla Mathieson and her husband Rick of Sioux City, IA; and a brother, Denny Teska of Ranger, TX.
She was preceded in death by her father, Wally Teska, 2 brothers, Dean and Dave Teska.
