Eunice Arlene McAllister

Eunice Arlene McAllister, 74, of Sioux City died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006, at a Sioux City hospital following a sudden illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Riverside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Charles Wolff officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the church. Eunice was born April 12, 1932, in Sioux City, the daughter of Ernest and Elsie (Nelson) Thorson. She was a lifetime resident of Sioux City She graduated with the class of 1950 from Central High School.

She married William D. McAllister on June 17, 1950, in Sioux City. She volunteered as a librarian at Emerson Grade School. William passed away Feb. 11, 2002, in Sioux City.

She was a longtime member of Riverside Lutheran Church. She was involved in education and other activities at the church. She was also active in the different women's circles at the church and was a Bethel Bible study leader. She was a great cook. She loved spending time with her family and vacationing with friends. She also enjoyed crafts and hobbies.

Survivors include five sons, Steven (Shannon) McAllister of Spencer, Iowa, Craig McAllister of Moorhead, Iowa, Jeffrey (Sandy) McAllister of Cottage Grove, Minn., Timothy McAllister and his friend, Robin Brown of Yankton, S.D., and Daniel (Lanelle) McAllister of Sioux Falls, S.D.; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer (Matthew Rose), Matthew, Rachael, Whitney, Joshua, Kelly, Molly, Anna and Connor McAllister and Michael and Christopher Brown; two brothers, Gerald (Coral) Thorson and Neil (Lucy) Thorson; two sisters, Florence (Bernard) Brennan and Janice Thorson; and a sister-in-law, Jody Thorson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William D. McAllister; and a brother, Russell Thorson.

Pallbearers will be Josh, Kelly, Matt, Whitney, Rachael, Connor, Molly, Anna McAllister and Matt Rose. Honorary pallbearers will be Mardell Cole, Marvel Jones, Karen White, Gerald and Mardella Wilson and Bud and Jane Reese.
