Darrell Maxie, 46, of South Sioux City, NE. Passed away Friday, October 20, 2006 in Sioux City. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2006 from 3-8 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel and one hour prior to the funeral on Friday at the church. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 27, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Floyd E. Brown officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Logan Park Cemetery.

Darrell was born on October 24, 1959 in Houston, Texas to the union of William and Dorothy (Peevy) Maxie. Darrell was the third of seven children. Darrell accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church. Darrell was raised and attended schools in the Kashmere Gardens community. He served in the United States Army and Reserves and served in Hawaii, Guatemala, East and West coasts and numerous points in between. Outside of military experience, Darrell held numerous positions in the electrical and warehousing industry. Darrell was a diligent, hard-worker. He was very employable and was successful in job pursuits.

Darrell loved people and had a great sense of humor. He had a great love for music and video games and movies. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and friendly disposition he extended to all who were fortunate to have known him. It seems only right that he now gets the rest that he richly deserves in Gods loving arms.

Darrell is survived by his wife, Constance C. Maxie of South Sioux City, NE, a son, Daryl Anthony Maxie of Houston, TX, a daughter, Constance Maxie of South Sioux City, NE, his parents, William and Dorothy Maxie of Houston, TX, three sisters, Felecia (Lisa) Poullard and her husband Junius, Karen Tubbs and her husband Allen, and Dionne Maxie all of Houston, TX. Eight nieces and nephews. An extended family of special aunts, uncles, and cousins from Tyler, TX and Denver, CO, and a host of relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sibling, Michael and Sylvia Jean.
