SIOUX CITY -- Darlene P. Martin, 87, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, at the Floyd House in Sergeant Bluff.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Luke Lutheran Church, with the Rev. David Cox officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Darlene was born Dec. 20, 1923, in Chicago, Ill., to Herman and Pearl Maude (Lafferty) Tool. She graduated from Central High School.
She was married to Darwin Martin on Sept. 30, 1944, in Sioux City. He preceded in death by on Feb. 26, 1985, in Sioux City. She was a homemaker, raising her five children.
She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading and playing cards. She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church.
Survivors include three children, Rod (Kathy) Martin, Kathy (Paul) Downing, and Steve (Jo) Martin, all of Sioux City; a daughter-in-law Marcia Martin of Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; her twin sister, Arline (Will) Bodenbach of Racine, Wis.; and a sister, Patty Johnson of Sioux City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Darwin; two sons, Dan and Marty Martin; two brothers; and a sister.
