SIOUX CITY -- Dorothy V. March, 91, of Sioux City died Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home following a lengthy illness.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Riverside United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Janice Bennett officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to meyerbroschapels.com.

Dorothy was born July 12, 1918, in Sioux City, to Otto and Pearl (Smith) Skoglund. Her early years were spent in Sioux Falls, S.D., and Sioux City. Dorothy graduated from Central High School.

She married Leonard A. March on Aug. 14, 1937. He died Feb. 11, 1998. Dorothy worked part-time for J.C. Penney's and Heelan High School.

She was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church, Daughters of the Nile and Silver Azure Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Dorothy enjoyed fishing at her lake home in Minnesota and spending time at Lake Okoboji. She enjoyed crafts and loved company and having people in her home.

Survivors include two sons, Leonard March and his wife, Becky of Sioux City, and Gary March and his wife, Jan of Dakota Dunes, S.D.; three grandchildren, Scott March, Troy March and his wife, Kori, and Jennifer Thompson and her husband, B.J.; six great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Harold Fish; and a sister-in-law, Juanita Skoglund.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Maybell Leckband and Beatrice Yockey; and a brother, John Skoglund.
