SIOUX CITY -- Audrey L. Lyons, 87, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at a local hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with Chaplain Sharon Cates officiating. Burial will follow the services in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
Audrey was born Feb. 22, 1923, in Sioux City, to John and Theodora (Soleglad) Hansen. She graduated from Central High School in June 1942. She also attended Tri-State Business College.
Audrey married James Howard Lyons on June 6, 1944, in Sioux City. She worked for many years at A.Y. McDonald Manufacturing Co. as a secretary.
She belonged to Girls of 68 and was the secretary of the club for 19 years. She also belonged to a 500 card club and Skip Boo Card Club. Audrey loved to play the Wii, Canasta and Aggravation; she also loved flowers and gardening. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing tennis and to winter ski.
Audrey is survived by two sons, Carl Lyons of Vermillion, S.D., and Mike Lyons and his fiancee, Sandi Peterson of Omaha, Neb.; a daughter, Judy Wickstrom and her husband, Stan of Sioux City; three grandchildren, Traci Linduski and her husband, Ryan of Sioux City, Kerrie Mitchell and her husband, Brian of Dakota Dunes, S.D., and Mindie Lyons of Atlanta, Ga.; three great-grandchildren, Jayden, Marissa and Ella; and special friend, Vicki Lyons.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters and one brother.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff and residents of Bickford Cottage; they were like a second family to Audrey.
