SIOUX CITY -- Loretta M. Lynott, 103, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, at Countryside Senior Living Center.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 28, 2009 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Daniel Guenther officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery at Hawarden, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave.

Loretta was born April 6, 1906, in Ireton, Iowa, to Harry O. and Sarah E. (McNally) Smith. She graduated from St. Mary's School in Hawarden, and later received her teaching certificate from Morningside College. Loretta taught at Washington Township School No. 8 near McNally, Iowa.

Loretta married Robert Emmet Lynott Sr. on Feb. 4, 1925, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hawarden, Iowa. Robert passed away on Sept. 23, 1976, in Sioux City. Loretta worked at Sears, Roebuck and Company for 22 years, from 1949 to her retirement in 1971, in the advertising department.

She was an avid Bridge player and was formerly involved in the genealogical society of Sioux City. Loretta was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ellen O'Harrow and her husband Gordon H. of Sioux City, and Peg Kamm and her husband, Bob of Dakota Dunes; 15 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Robert E. Lynott Jr.; three brothers; two sisters; two granddaughters; and a great-grandson.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Bob Lynott, Jim Lynott, Mark O'Harrow, Terry Boer, Mike Kamm and Vincent Kamm.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of Siouxland, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, or to the Carmelite Nuns.
