Bernice C. (Painter) Lodahl, 91, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, at Neighbors Nursing Home in Byron, Ill.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Central Assembly of God, with the Rev. Craig Mellendorf officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Bernice was born Feb. 24, 1916, in Estelline, S.D., the daughter of Bernhard C. and Nicholine "Lena" C. (Nielson) Brunick.
She married Erwin B. Painter on July 11, 1935, in Sioux Falls, S.D. He died June 20, 1989, in Sioux City. She later married Stanley "Steven" Lodahl on July 8, 1993, in Sioux Falls. Bernice had been a Sioux City, Leeds area, resident since 1945. She was employed for 22 years by Wincharger and Zenith Corp. until her retirement.
She was a member of Central Assembly of God and prior to that, Calvary Lutheran Church.
Survivors include three sons, Dean Painter of Forreston, Ill., Steve Painter and his wife, Carol of Zebulon, N.C., and Raymond Painter and his wife, Jan of Byron, Ill.; a brother, Ernest Olson and his wife, Marilyn of Watertown, S.D.; a sister, Inez Jacobs and her husband, Jim of Columbus, N.J.; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Erwin; a son, Noel Painter; a sister, Jeanette Ching; and four brothers, George Brunick, Jimmy Brunick, Orville Olson and Roger Olson, and a great-granddaughter, Anastasia.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Daniel Painter, Douglas Painter, Dean Painter, Pastor David Meyer and Curtis Painter.
