Kenneth R. Littlejohn

August 12, 1915 — September 17, 2007

Kenneth R. Littlejohn, 92, of Sioux City, passed away on Monday, September 17, 2007, at his residence. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 23, 2007, from 3-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. A prayer service will then begin at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 24, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at Riverside United Methodist Church with Reverend Janice Bennett officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Kenneth was born on August 12, 1915, in Oconee, Illinois to Miles L. and Katherine (Pafeur) Littlejohn. The family moved to Sioux City when Kenneth was very young. He grew up and attended Sioux City Schools where he graduated from Central High School in 1934. He then attended Morningside College where he received at B.A. in 1938.

Kenneth began working for Wind Charger Corp after college. He enlisted into the U.S. Navy on March 7, 1942, in Des Moines, Iowa. During W.W.II, Kenneth became a Chief Petty Officer in charge of the radar on a Destroyer in the Atlantic Ocean. He was honorably discharge on September 8, 1945, in Sampson, N.Y.

Kenneth returned to Sioux City after the war and worked at Iowa Public Service for the next 34 years, retiring in 1980.

He was a member of the Riverside United Methodist Church. He also enjoyed bowling and was on many leagues over the years. Kenneth also enjoyed working on electronics where he would take them apart and put them back together.

Kenneth is survived by a sister, Neva Holland of Independence, IA; a nephew Jon Holland of Independence, IA; 3 nieces, Sharon Holland of Madison, WI; Deborah Schuber and her husband Tommy of Litha Springs, GA; and Rebecca Johnson, also several great nieces and nephews.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
