Ruth E. Linn

SIOUX CITY -- Ruth E. Linn, 94, of Springville, Utah, formerly of Sioux City, died Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, at a Utah hospital following a brief illness.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with Bishop Cliff Wilkinson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be noon until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to meyerbroschapels.com.

Ruth E. Linn was born Aug. 8, 1915, in Sioux City, the daughter of Ballentine Prescott and Anne Marie Johnson. She graduated from Central High School and Western Iowa Tech Community College School of Nursing.

She married Guy Duane Thatcher on Dec. 31, 1937, in Newhall, Calif. He died July 8, 1977. She married Howard R. Linn on June 10, 1983, in Sioux City. He died Jan. 31, 2004.

She was a lifelong resident of Sioux City. She was a licensed practical nurse. She was the director of River Heights Halfway House for 14 years. After her retirement, she worked an additional 10 years at Gordon Chemical Dependency Center. She moved to Springville, Utah, in December 2007.

She was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Survivors include a son, Donald J. (Beverly) Thatcher of Salt Lake City, Utah; two daughters, Dianna (Carl) Rosapepe of Roanoke, Va., and Donna Moore of Springville, Utah; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Guy D. Thatcher and Howard R. Linn; a daughter, Darlene Thatcher Michel; two grandchildren, Amy Rosapepe and Fletcher Soper; and a son-in-law, Kenneth Moore.

Pallbearers will be Donald Thatcher, Eugene Barker, Daniel Moore and Carl Rosapepe. Honorary pallbearer will be Kevin Moore.
