Karen Ann Linder

Karen Ann Linder, 19, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007, following an automobile accident.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sunnybrook Community Church. Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Karen was born Jan. 1, 1988, in Sioux City, to Kevin and Lori Linder. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Sioux City.

Karen was a 2006 valedictorian at North High School. She loved music; played the piano, clarinet and saxophone and played in the high school jazz band. Karen was also involved with the madrigals and choreographed and danced in musicals. She was active in Siouxland Movement Arts, traveling to Disney World, Kansas City, New York City, Chicago and London, England.

A dance major, she was attending Hope College as a Presidential Scholarship recipient and had received the Distinguished Artist award in dance. She died with the love of her life, Sam Meengs.

Karen is survived by her parents, Kevin and Lori Linder of Sioux City; a sister, Katie Linder of Sioux City; grandparents, Donna and Gary Linder and Leo and Frances Harris; aunts and uncles, Mary Kay and David Duquette, Connie and Ron Smith and Cindy and Tim McCall; cousins, Emily and Andrew Duquette, Lisa, Renee and Anna Smith and Jill, Maggie and Christa McCall and Emily Linder.

Memorials may be given to the Karen Linder Scholarship Fund, 2912 Chambers Street, Sioux City, IA 51104.
