Carolyn Hood Treptow Linden, 71, of Ankeny, formerly of Sioux City, beloved wife, mother, grandma, friend went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, surrounded by family.
Celebration of life services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Roger Madden officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present beginning at 6 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Carolyn was born April 24, 1938, in Sioux City to Stanley and Teeny (Pecaut) Hood. She grew up in Denison, Iowa, and graduated from Denison High School in 1956. Carolyn attended Morningside College, where she met and married Thane Treptow. They moved to Dubuque, Iowa, and returned to Sioux City in 1961.
Carolyn was an active member of First United Methodist Church; activities included choir, Sunday school teacher, bell choir, Christian Education and working in the office. She was also a Morningside alumni board and P.E.O. Chapter IL member. Carolyn was a short-term nanny to many Sioux City families and looked after many elderly people and enjoyed visiting those who were homebound. A special interest was sending letters and newspaper clippings as well as writing poems for friends and family.
In 1999, she married Harold Linden, a longtime family friend, and moved to Ankeny, Iowa. They enjoyed traveling, taking cruises and wintering in Texas. They also traveled frequently to visit their children. In Texas, she was a member of P.E.O. Chapter O.B. and supported a child in Mexico.
Left to cherish wonderful memories include husband, Harold Linden; children, John Treptow and Connie (Don) Rydberg; grandchildren, Michael Treptow, Kathleen Carolyn, Lauren, Maria, Lindsey and Joseph Rydberg; stepchildren, Sandy (Jerry) Weldon, Paul (Elaine) Linden, John (Nancy) Linden; stepgrandchildren, Jenny (Adam) VanWyk, Kerry (John) Feuling, Joe (Katie) Weldon, John (Melissa ) Linden, David (Anna) Linden, Tanner and Kristina Linden; 10 great-grandchildren; and many dear friends.
Memorials my be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor's choice.
